Spain 2-0 Slovakia: Silva shines as La Roja gain revenge
Manchester City playmaker David Silva was the pick of the bunch as Vicente Del Bosque's Spain side eased to a 2-0 Euro 2016 qualifying victory over Slovakia, overturning the result from the reverse fixture, when Jan Kozak's men ran out 2-1 winners in 2015.
Slovakia, who had previously won each of their Euro 2016 qualifying games, including the 2-1 victory over Spain, failed to deal with Silva's ability to slip between the lines and play the decisive final ball.
The Spain midfielder did not find himself on the scoresheet, but provided the assist for Jordi Alba's header after 5 minutes, giving Vicente Del Bosque's side a lead that they never looked in danger of losing.
A controversial refereeing decision then gave Spain a penalty, as it was ruled that Slovakia goalkeeper Matus Kozacik had brought down Diego Costa inside the box, and Andres Iniesta wrapped up the win after 30 minutes by tucking the penalty away.
The match wound down in the second half, as La Roja controlled the tempo and were happy to retain their two-goal deficit.
