It affects all of us' - Fabregas slams 'stupid' Pique jeers

The Spain defender has been constantly booed by a large contingent of La Roja fans and the midfielder says it is affecting the whole team
Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has called for an end to the jeering of Gerard Pique from sections of Spain fans, stating that the whole team are affected by it.

Pique has been singled out largely for his pro-Catalan political views as well as sly digs at Real Madrid, but Fabregas feels that Clasico-related issues should be left well away from the national team.

“It's just not a national team issue,” Fabregas told Cadena SER. “It's a Barcelona vs Madrid issue.

“Pique has always given his best. He's always been there with a smile on his face when we've needed him, just like the rest of our team-mates.

"We're a team and he is part of that, so it affects all of us negatively.

“We're recovering from a bad World Cup and we need to keep the standards high in order to reach Euro 2016. We cannot be distracted by such stupid things, we need everyone's support.”
